Golden YearsPeace of mind for family

Privacy Policy

Last updated 23 July 2026 · Effective 23 July 2026

The short version. Golden Years helps a family keep a gentle eye on an older relative living independently at home. Almost everything the system sees stays inside the home, on a small hub you plug in there. The app on your phone is simply a private window into that hub.

We do not run a cloud service that stores your home's activity, camera views, or daily routine. We are not able to see them. The only information that ever leaves the home is the small amount described below — enough to let your phone find your hub and to deliver alerts — and nothing about your household is sold, shared for advertising, or used to track you.

This policy is written in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, please contact us and we'll explain.

Who we are

Golden Years is provided by Kenneth Golding (the "provider", "we", "us"). Golden Years is a home-based wellbeing system: a hub kept in the home, wireless sensors, an optional camera, and a companion iPhone app used by family members ("carers") to check in on a loved one.

Who this policy is about

Two kinds of people are involved:

Golden Years is intended to be used with the knowledge and agreement of the person being cared for. The family installing the system is responsible for making sure that person understands it is there and consents to it. It is not designed for covert monitoring.

What stays inside the home

The hub does its work locally, in the home. The following are created and kept on the hub and are not sent to us or stored on any server we control:

Carers reach this information by connecting to their own hub through the app. Because it lives on the hub in the home, we cannot access it, and it is only as available as the household's own hub and connection.

What leaves the home

To make the app work, a small amount of information is handled outside the home. This is the complete list:

1. Connection heartbeats (identifiers)

So your phone can locate and securely reach your specific hub, each hub periodically sends a small "heartbeat" to a relay service (Cloudflare). This contains technical identifiers for the hub and its connection and basic reachability status. It does not contain your relative's activity, camera images, or routine. These heartbeats are transient and are continually overwritten.

2. Push notifications (through Apple)

If your household turns on alerts, the notification is delivered to your iPhone through Apple's Push Notification service, as all iOS apps must. Alert messages are kept general and do not include sensitive detail in the notification itself.

3. Diagnostics

We may receive basic technical diagnostics (for example, whether a hub is online and error information) to keep the product working and reliable. These are used only to operate and improve the service.

What we never do

How long information is kept

Information held on the hub in the home is kept only for a limited, rolling period to support the family's own checks (recent sensor history and a short image archive), after which it is automatically removed on the hub. The connection heartbeats described above are transient and continually overwritten. Diagnostics are kept only as long as needed to operate the service.

Your choices and how to delete your data

Security

Access to a hub is protected by sign-in, and connections between the app and the hub are encrypted in transit. Because the sensitive data stays on the hub in the home rather than in a central cloud, it is not exposed in one place online.

Children

Golden Years is intended for adults caring for an older relative. It is not directed at children and is not intended for use by children.

Not a medical device

Golden Years is a wellbeing and reassurance product to help families stay connected with an older relative and notice changes in everyday routine. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, monitor, or prevent any medical condition, and it is not a substitute for professional care, supervision, or emergency services. In an emergency, always contact the emergency services.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update this page and revise the date at the top. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
